The EIA reported a build of +773 MBbls in U.S. crude-oil inventories. The build was smaller than the average estimate of +1,001 as reported by Bloomberg.
Prices were down in the five minutes following the announcement, to $82.64 from $82.83 just before 09:30 AM.
Inventories for the U.S. are now at a deficit of 15.40 MMBbls (-3.5%) to last year, and a deficit of 23.60 MMBbls (-5.3%) to the five-year average.
