Karen joined AEGIS in 2016 and has been instrumental in enhancing the firm's capabilities in supporting client hedge strategy and execution. As the leader of AEGIS's Energy Trading team, Karen plays a pivotal role in helping clients develop, implement, and adjust their hedge strategies, ensuring effective risk management and program optimization. With over 20 years of experience in the energy and finance industry, she has deep expertise in energy trading and risk management, and was recognized as a "25 Influential Women in Energy" honoree by Oil and Gas Investor in 2022.
Before joining AEGIS, Karen was a financial trader at Pacific Summit, where she developed market-maker functions for traders and customers and managed aggregate hydrocarbon risk associated with long-term power deals. Her strategic insights and risk management skills significantly contributed to the firm’s success.
Prior to her tenure at Pacific Summit, Karen served as Vice President at BNP Paribas in Houston on the financial desk. During her tenure, Karen managed dynamic term energy portfolios and mitigated risk with hedging activities involving varied terms, shapes, and risk profiles.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University. Her comprehensive industry knowledge, leadership skills, and commitment to client success make her a valuable asset to AEGIS and its clients.
Outside of the office, you won’t find her relaxing—she’s too busy running, hiking, or riding horses. At home, she’s got her hands full with dogs, cats, horses, and a parrot who thinks he’s the boss.
