Alro, which is Romania’s only primary aluminum smelter, is set reduce primary aluminum by 60% in 2022. In a December 27 press release, the company stated it will resume full production “when energy market conditions return to normal.” It is one of the largest producers in Europe, and the largest in the Eastern and Central Europe. According to the company’s website, primary aluminum production capacity is 265,000 mt per year. (12/29/2021) |
