Peru’s copper production was 2.3 million mt in 2021, up from approximately 2.14 million mt, or 7%, in 2020, according to the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru. Production increased despite social unrest near several mines, including the road blockade at the Las Bambas mine that briefly stopped production there late last year. Peru is the world’s second-largest copper producer, after neighboring Chile. (2/7/2022)
