The EIA reported a build of 4,345 MBbls in U.S. crude-oil inventories. This build was larger than the average estimate of -1,316 MBbls as reported by Bloomberg.
Prices were up in the five minutes following the announcement, to $95.58 from $95.57 just before 09:30 AM.
Inventories for the U.S. are now at a deficit of 84.50 MMBbls (-16.9%) to last year, and a deficit of 55.60 MMBbls (-11.8%) to the five-year average.
